The television drama "Nashville" is being adapted into a Broadway musical

The television drama "Nashville" is being adapted into a Broadway musical. Ten-time Tony Awards winner Scott Delman will be the musical's lead producer.

Delman has acquired the live theatrical rights to the "Nashville" franchise from Lionsgate and ABC Studios, the TV show's production companies. Further details about the production are forthcoming.

The "Nashville" musical will be the first in a string of stage productions based on movies and TV shows from Lionsgate.

"Nashville" premiered in 2012 on ABC, where it ran for four seasons. After the show, which was created by Callie Khouri and followed the lives of a fictional set of artists, songwriters and other country music business members, was canceled, CMT picked it up and ran two additional seasons. The "Nashville" series finale aired in July of 2018.
