Luke Bryan says that his judging gig on "American Idol" has introduced him to a whole new audience.
He says, "There's a segment of the world that doesn't even listen to the radio, they just watch TV. They just learned who I am."
"When I hop in a cab somewhere and the cab driver is like, 'I know your voice, you're a judge on American Idol' -- It's just a whole other segment of people."
Beyond the added recognition, Luke explains: "I truly enjoyed every aspect of it: the learning curve, working with Lionel [Richie] and Katy [Perry]."
However, for Bryan, the most important part of being an Idol judge is his role as a mentor for up-and-coming singers.
He continues, "I think the people at home can tell that we really are in there for the good of these kids, and to get them going. We don't just roll in and punch our two hours. We truly care about what happens to them. Any chance we have to help them, we will."
ABC's reboot of "American Idol" has been renewed for a second season. There is no word yet on when Season 2 will begin.
