Tom Nelson

Tom Nelson joined Chisholm Trail Broadcasting in 2004 and focuses on sports advertising sales and sports broadcasting. Nelson, a 1989 graduate of Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas, began his broadcasting career in 1986 as a disc jockey at KJLS radio in Hays. After graduating from FHSU, he worked in the sports department at WIBW-TV in Topeka, Kan., before joining the staff of the Continental Basketball Association’s Topeka Sizzlers and eventually becoming the Director of Game Operations. In 1990, Nelson became the mid-day disc jockey and sports director at KQLA radio in Manhattan, Kan. In 1992, he moved to Dodge City, Kan., and was video producer at Media Services, Inc.. During the next eight years, Nelson broadcast high school sporting events in Western Kansas and was the Voice of the Dodge City Community College Conquistadors. In 1999, Tom became the first Director of Media Relations at Dodge City Raceway Park.
In 2000, Nelson founded and was the general manager of the Dodge City Legend of the United States Basketball League. During four seasons with the Legend, his teams won two USBL Championships and he was named USBL Executive of the Year in 2000 and 2003. His 2003 title team won the most games in USBL history (28-5). In 2004, he took over as general manager of the Oklahoma Storm in the USBL and worked with the team until 2007.
Since joining Chisholm Trail Broadcasting, Nelson has hosted the Pioneer Cellular Countdown to Kickoff and the Dobrinski Automotive Scoreboard Roundup, has been the voice of the KNID Area Football and Basketball Game of the Week, the Oklahoma Storm, and has broadcast high school baseball, American Legion baseball and the NJCAA Division 2 World Series, as well as area basketball playoff games on the Road to the Gold Ball. He earned the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters Best Play-By-Play Sportscaster award in 2011. He is married to Julie Nelson, the Marketing Director and Volunteer Coordinator at Hospice Circle of Love and has two children: Joshua, age 13 and Gabrielle, 11.

John Herrick

John Herrick was named the Sports Director of Chisholm Trail Broadcasting in February 2015. He first joined the station as the News Director in October of 2011. He made his commercial broadcasting debut in a Speedway commercial in November of 2010. John's first real job came as an On-Air Personality with New Media Broadcasters in Havre, Montana in April of 2011. Prior to that, he was a freelance Play-by-Play Announcer for USA Today in 2010. He also interned at both ESPN 1070 The Fan and WTHR-13 in Indianapolis.

John graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication and Sociology from DePauw University in May of 2010. At DePauw, he worked at the campus radio station, 91.5 WGRE FM, all 4 years. He was the Sports Director his junior and senior year and Production Director his sophomore year.

John was named the Radio Personality of the Year in 2015 by the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters in the Non-Metro Division. He has also been nationally recognized for his work as a sportscaster. Following the 2009 school year, the Sportscasters Talent Agency of America (STAA) ranked John the 16th Best Collegiate Sports Broadcaster in the country. Then in 2010, the STAA ranked him the 19th Best Collegiate Sports Broadcaster in the country. He was the only broadcaster not from a Division I school on the list both years.

John is originally from Greenwood, Indiana and is a fan of the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, and the Indiana Hoosiers. He has 2 wonderful parents (Bill and Lynn), an awesome brother (Jim), and the nicest person in the world for a grandmother (Margaret Hurrle).

Chris Morales

Chris Morales was named the News Director of Chisholm Trail Broadcasting in August 2015. Being his first job as an On-Air personality out of college, he is extremely excited for the new experience and opportunities the position will bring. Prior to CTB, he spent two summers as both the play-by-play voice and a writing intern for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the Cape Cod Baseball league in Hyannis, Massachusetts.

Chris recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism and Media Studies with a focus in Sports Journalism from Rutgers University in May of 2015. At Rutgers, he worked at the student radio station, 88.7 WRSU-FM, for three years. At WRSU, he was one of the main play-by-play voices for Rutgers football, basketball, and baseball, and also hosted his own sports talk show, “SportsKnight”, on Tuesday nights. During his senior year, he also served as both the station’s General Manager and Assistant Sports Director. Following the 2015 school year, the Sportscasters Talent Agency of America (STAA) named Chris an All American Honorable Mention as one of the Top 40 Collegiate Sports Broadcasters in the country. He was the first student from Rutgers named in the top 40 since 2010.

Chris is originally from Newark, New Jersey and is a fan of the New York Yankees, New York Jets, and Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

Cody Alan

Cody Alan is a respected veteran personality in the radio industry. After stints in South Carolina, Georgia and Florida, Alan made it to the major leagues at age 23 when he landed a gig at KPLX/99.5 The Wolf in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. Along the way, Alan has received numerous national awards including DJ of the Year from Country Radio Broadcasters, with his most recent nomination from the Academy of Country Music. Nominated for Radio Music Awards Air Personality of the Year, Alan has been honored at the Grand Ole Opry, seen on CMT, featured in USA Today and GQ magazine. As well, Alan was named Radio and Records Music Director of the Year five times, while Billboard magazine and the Radio Music Awards honored Alan with the annual title as well.
